Hana Oktavia from Nijmegen
Job Position: Validation Engineer, and Student Contact & Internship / graduate Coordinator
Working for Teamnexperia since: June 2021
I am from Indonesia, and my first intention in coming to the Netherlands was to study and then work. After graduation, I wasn’t sure yet in which field of engineering or business I wanted to work. But then, one day I had a call to join Nexperia in a junior position on the Analog and Logic IC's team. I was just giving it a go, not knowing what I was going to encounter. I was just willing to learn and expand my skills. There were many things I had to learn, especially because our work in the lab is so diverse.
When I started working for Nexperia the first thing that attracted me was the product we make itself. I started to like working in ICs creation and the semiconductor industry since then.
What does a day in the work of Hana look like:
My workday is never representative of my job as a validation engineer because each day is unique, which I find enjoyable as it prevents boredom.
Due to the hands-on nature of my work in the lab, I am always present at the office. I perform various tests on our IC prototypes to measure their characteristics and ensure the functionality of our newly designed products. This allows me to constantly learn new technical and hands-on skills, as well as improve my soft skills in collaborating with different colleagues.
Occasionally, I leave the office to fulfill my duties as the Student Contact & Internship/Graduate Coordinator for our company. This includes planning for Nexperia campus recruitment events, organizing crews, and developing strategies to attract students. Despite the early mornings and late nights, I find satisfaction in fulfilling these responsibilities.
The TeamNexperia culture
TeamNexperia has so much diversity from age, experience, culture, nationality background, location, gender and expertise. Everyone is embracing each other here. And Nexperia is growing using this diversity. Somehow, everyone manages to work together to overcome all the challenges and get the best result. In Nexperia, we also have a flat hierarchy, where everyone is approachable.
Within TeamNexperia, we bond not only at work but also through various other activities, such as sailing to Friesland, a ski trip to Austria, different sports clubs, the Young community, and more.
Since working for Nexperia, I have lived in Nijmegen and found it to be a nice place to stay and hang out. The people in my neighborhood are friendly and approachable, and the region is harmonious, which is perfect to be in after a long day at work. There are also many fun events, such as the Vierdaagse Feesten, of which Nexperia is a premium partner. This event takes place in the summer, and the city of Nijmegen buzzes with people from all over the Netherlands and the world, thanks to the 4Days Marches that take place during that time.
Together with colleagues we go out celebrating during these days. It is good for team spirit and a lot of fun.
